We all gladly celebrate every November 1st all Saints’ day but what do we know about that day? Do you know what is its origin or who created the day of all Saints and with what intention? Keep reading and you will find out.
If you have ever wondered how the day of all the saints came about or why this festival is celebrated, you should know that it was in the middle of the ninth century when Pope Gregory IV wanted to extend this day to the entire Catholic Church in order to commemorate all the deceased who, even after having passed purgatory, had managed to sanctify themselves in a full way, thus achieving eternal life in the presence of God.
In our country (and perhaps also in much of the world) one of the most famous traditions on this day is to bring flowers to our own dead. For this reason, November 1 of each year is the second date in which more flowers are sold after February 14 (Valentine’s Day).
In addition, on this special day there are many people who decide to meet to celebrate the day of all the saints as a family or surrounded by good friends and spend a pleasant evening. That is why in La Bóta del Racó we invite you to come to our restaurant and enjoy the best Catalan cuisine surrounded by all those people you really want.
